Question by StephenWeinstein: Should the term "credit report" be changed to "credit history report" to show it will have past debts?
I have noticed many questions here from users who seem to think that they are entitled to have something immediately removed from their credit report by paying it at any time, even years after it was due. This is, of course, incorrect.
In order not to have a debt hurt a credit report in the future, it must be paid on time. However, not everyone knows this, and thinks that they do not have to pay on time, as long as they pay before whenever they will need to have good credit. However, once the debt is not paid on time, it is too late to avoid having the credit report say that it was not paid on time, even if it is paid later.
I propose that Congress pass a law changing the term "credit report" to "credit history report". I believe that this would make it clearer that it includes anything that the person used to owe, and not just what the person now owes.
Is this a good idea?

That's just stupid semantics. The entitlement idiots won't care and will still show off their glorious stupidity and ignorance. You could call it an ice cream sundae and nothing would change.

But I agree with Common Sense. People would still be whining no matter what you call it. A rose is a rose …
